Building a Future Full of Possibility
Zanobia is a sophomore studying psychology at Southern New Hampshire University.
Zanobia’s parents partnered with Habitat more than 25 years ago, building their home alongside volunteers and community members before she was even born. As the youngest in her family, Zanobia grew up in the same house her entire life. The stability of that home gave her family the opportunity to focus on building a future rather than worrying about where they would live.
Many of Zanobia’s favorite memories center around that home. Family barbecues, holiday gatherings, music, laughter, and celebrations brought extended family together under one roof. The house became a gathering place, creating the kind of traditions that shaped her childhood and made her the family-oriented person she is today.
Zanobia is balancing full-time work as she pursues a psychology degree focused on children and adolescents at Southern New Hampshire University. She previously earned a degree in early childhood education. Her passion for helping young people has guided much of her journey, from working in childcare settings to now caring for children at Indiana Fever home games.
“I want to understand the way kids think and how that turns into the people they become as adults.”
Looking back, she recognizes that the stability of homeownership gave her family the ability to invest in opportunities and milestones throughout her life, including school expenses and other important needs. As Zanobia works toward completing her degree, she hopes to use her education and experience to make a positive impact on children and families in her community. Her story demonstrates how the benefits of affordable homeownership can help families grow and support one another.
