Why Habitat is Needed
In Indiana, 1 in 9 households spend half or more of their income on housing. The region’s unprecedented price increases have created a huge barrier for first-time buyers to attain the stability of homeownership. With a 42% increase in home values since the summer of 2020, supply of affordable homes is at record lows for first-time buyers. Wages continue to lag behind these price increases.
Housing is important to the quality of life, health and economic prosperity of local families and the entire community. Learn more about the impact of affordable housing.
