Since October 2022, Medxcel, a local company focused on healthcare facilities services, has been making a big impact by volunteering once a month in our ReStores.
Over the past two years, their team has contributed an impressive 295 hours, showing up at our West Washington ReStore location. The team has helped with tasks like landscaping, building furniture, and a variety of other essential projects. One standout member of the team is Robert Kidwell, who has been with Medxcel for over two years and has generously donated his time at the ReStore alongside his coworkers.
When asked to describe his experience volunteering, Robert quickly responded with three words: easy, fun, and caring. For him, volunteering is not only about helping others, but also about connecting with his team and fostering a sense of camaraderie. “Knowing that we are helping people in need is what keeps me coming back,” he shared. “It’s always a good time when we volunteer, and it makes for great team bonding.”
Robert has fond memories of some lighthearted moments during his time at the ReStore. In one instance, while sorting through donated paint, he turned around to find his supervisor with his face painted like a cat—a funny and memorable moment that added to the enjoyment of the day.
One of the things Robert appreciates most about the ReStore is how accessible and enjoyable the experience is for volunteers. He encourages anyone considering volunteering at the ReStore to give it a try. “It’s one of the better volunteer opportunities in the area,” he said. “It’s always a good time.”
Medxcel’s ongoing dedication to volunteering at the ReStore is a testament to their values and commitment to making a difference in the community. Volunteers like Robert Kidwell show how a little bit of time can go a long way in helping those in need.
