Opportunity and the Next Generation

Keiara is a sophomore studying business through Purdue Global.

For Keiara, homeownership meant more than having a place to live. When she and her mother moved into their Habitat home in 2018, she was just 11 years old. After years of living in spaces that felt temporary, walking into a home that truly belonged to her family felt different. For the first time, she could imagine staying in one place, creating memories, and building a future rooted in stability.

That sense of stability grew over time. Keiara remembers never feeling fully settled because moving always seemed like a possibility. In their Habitat home, however, she was finally able to make her room her own, decorating, rearranging, and creating a space that reflected her personality. The home became a source of comfort, permanence, and peace of mind for both her and her mother thanks to the stability of an affordable mortgage.

Receiving this scholarship came at a critical time, easing the financial pressures to continue investing in her education.

Today, Keiara is a sophomore studying business through Purdue Global while working full-time at Kroger with her mother. A creative at heart, she enjoys writing, journaling, and storytelling. Drawn to genres like mystery and thriller, she hopes to one day publish a book of her own. While balancing work, school, and the financial responsibilities of paying for her education, she credits her mother for inspiring the determination and will to stay focused on her goals.

The stability of homeownership gave Keiara the freedom to plan, dream, and set goals for the future. Today, that foundation is helping her pursue higher education, develop her talents, and prepare for a future that she hopes will be limitless.
