Become a Homeowner Mentor
Want to help someone in your community become a successful homeowner?
Volunteer to help mentor one of our future homeowners as they work their way through our homeownership program!

“Indy Habitat’s mentor program allows me to make a focused investment in one single homeowner at a time while building a relationship that will last a life time. Being able to walk side by side from application approval until the final home build with the homeowner is very rewarding.”
A Homeowner Mentor is:
A Habitat volunteer who, on behalf of the affiliate, takes on primary functions of support and communication with the future homeowners during the homeowner education and building or rehab process.
Mentors will strive to:
- Identify community resources of use to the future homeowner
- Follow up concerning Habitat class materials
- Provide homeownership tips
- Answer any questions about the program
- Meet with the family at least once a month to listen and encourage
The mentor will walk alongside the Habitat homeowner for 1-2 years. You become their main advocate outside of the Habitat for Humanity staff. Review the mentor guidelines for more information.
