What is Global Village?

Through Habitat for Humanity’s tithe program, U.S. affiliates contribute 10% of their unrestricted revenue each year in support of Habitat’s global ministry.  

The Habitat for Humanity Global Village program encourages volunteers to experience a new culture, work alongside members of your affiliate’s tithe partners’ community building houses and make a difference. View photos from our 2025 Global Village trip.

Travel to Kenya with Us

October 2026

We’re excited to open our Kenya Global Village Build to volunteers for the first time. This October, Greater Indy Habitat will invite 12 local supporters to travel with us to Kenya, where we’ll serve alongside our sister affiliate, Habitat for Humanity Kenya.

Estimated trip costs is $5,000, and participants are welcome and encouraged to fundraise to help cover their expenses. This unique experience offers the chance to build, connect with the culture, and engage with our mission on an international level.

Our Tithing Partners

El Salvador & Kenya

Hábitat para la Humanidad El Salvador was established in 1992. Their programs include special construction projects, supporting other areas of development such as education, water, sanitation, gender equality, and disaster risk response.

Habitat for Humanity Kenya was established in 1982. Their programs include financing for owner-led construction, settlement-based practice, security of land tenure, and disaster risk reduction and response.

When did Greater Indy become a tithing partner?

Our tithe program supports carefully chosen building and shelter projects and in 2022, we were happy to welcome our partnership with Kenya. Since 2013, Greater Indy Habitat has hosted six trips to our sister affiliate in El Salvador. Our groups have visited Usulután and San Vincente, El Salvador. 

Why El Salvador and Kenya?

Our affiliate has raised more than $2 million since 1988 to fund building projects in Central America, serving 400+ families. We expanded this tithe partnership to include Global Village trips to El Salvador beginning in November 2013 and now Kenya as well. Learn more about their local efforts. 

What can travelers expect during the Global Village program?

During the eight-day experience, volunteers will work alongside masons and partner families to help build homes, learn from settlement residents about their housing experience since the 2001 earthquakes, and make an impact on a family and a community.
