A Three-Time Scholar’s Journey into Film and Animation
Bugashane is a junior at Purdue University.
Since his first year, his focus has evolved from computer engineering and design to pursuing his passion for animation and film.
Bugashane has hardly taken a break since we last caught up with him as a 2024 scholarship recipient. He used the summer to continue taking classes, giving himself more breathing room as he starts his third year. His main goal this year is to plan his schedule accordingly so he can get to bed at a reasonable time.
As a sophomore, Bugashane learned the ins and outs of film and animation. Now he is ready to turn the practices into projects and create his own films. He is currently applying for internships in the film industry, hoping to join a production team to gain experience. Bugashane shares that his greatest accomplishment in school so far has been building his confidence. Through preparing and delivering numerous presentations, he’s grown more comfortable with public speaking and more confident in expressing his personality.

This year, Bugashane is also looking forward to apartment style living off campus. He reflects on how his idea of “home” has evolved over the years. During his first two years, returning to his family’s house was a familiar routine.
Over time, he began building a life on campus and came to realize, “my home is now at college.” The stability of his Habitat home gave him memories, like weekend family dinners, and now he looks forward to creating similar traditions in his own space at school.
Receiving this scholarship three years in a row supports Bugashane’s expenses for school in many ways. He has used his scholarship funds to cover book expenses, buy computer programs and softwares needed for design courses, and secure campus housing that was in short supply.
As a multi-year recipient, Bugashane’s journey is an example of how ongoing support can shape both academic success and personal growth. Watching the impact grow year after year highlights the value of investing in students’ futures.
