2022-2024 Strategic Plan in Review

By November 26, 2024From the CEO

As we close out our 2022–2024 strategic plan, we proudly reflect on three years of record-breaking growth and meaningful impact. The need for attainable homeownership in our region has become increasingly urgent. In 2022, Indianapolis ranked 46th in economic mobility for its poorest residents, highlighting the barriers many families face in building stable futures. With the city among the lowest Black homeownership rates in the country at 36% and 1 in 9 households allocating half or more of their income to housing, the mission of Habitat was critical.

In response to this overwhelming need, our strategic plan aimed to provide 300 housing solutions: 100 homes regionally, 100 homes repaired, and 100 homes internationally. Thanks to the dedication of our partners, volunteers, and supporters, we are thrilled to share that we not only met this ambitious goal but exceeded it, delivering 324 housing solutions over the three-year period. Each home represents a foundation for a better future—providing stability, hope, and opportunity to families locally and globally. This achievement symbolizes the power of collective action in addressing the housing crisis.

The need for attainable housing remains urgent, and we are determined to do even more in the coming years. Our newly released strategic plan outlines ambitious strategies to achieve our new goal: 600 total housing solutions over the next three years. With this plan, we aim to deepen our impact locally and internationally by providing more families with the stability and opportunities that come with homeownership.
