Global Village

The Habitat for Humanity Global Village program encourages volunteers to experience a new culture, work alongside members of a host community building houses, and make a difference in the lives of others.

Greater Indy Habitat for Humanity traveled to El Salvador for its third Global Village trip in February 2017. Read about Joel’s experience while working alongside Osmil and his family.

What is the Global Village program?

The Habitat for Humanity Global Village program encourages volunteers to experience a new culture, work alongside members of a host community building houses, and make a difference in the lives of others. Learn more about the international effort.

When and where?

Indy Habitat has hosted three trips to our sister affiliate in El Salvador. In 2013 and February of 2017 our groups visited Usulután, El Salvador and our 2015 team served in San Vincente, El Salvador.

We will host our fourth trip to El Salvador this November 2017. Read below for details of the trip and contact info.

Why El Salvador?

Learn more about their local efforts. Our affiliate has raised more than $1.3 million since 1988 to fund building projects in Central America, serving 325+ families. We expanded this tithe partnership to include Global Village trips to El Salvador beginning in November 2013.

View photos of our affiliate’s inaugural experience in 2013 and watch a video recap above!

What can travelers expect during the Global Village program?

During the eight-day experience, you will work alongside masons and partner families to help build homes, learn from settlement residents about their housing experience since the 2001 earthquakes, and make an impact on a family and a community.

Join us for our next trip!

This November we will host our fourth trip to El Salvador and are looking for 10-12 individuals to join our team!
